@Kachina624 wrote:@Sapphiregal. M6 sympathies to you. I understand. This coming Tuesday, the 10th, will be the anniversary of my son's death. He will be forever 37, and did leave two sons who are pretty much strangers to me. The hole in my heart will never heal but I try not to dwell on anniversaries.
I recall seeing a post at one time that you had lost your son. So, I know you understand. And, then you have the added sadness of the situation with the two grandsons. I am sorry for that. My best to you - I enjoy reading your comments because you always have such a sensible, down to earth outlook.

Sappiregal, I am mom to a son forever 30.
I, too, wonder if my son would be married, if he would have children.
If he would have made the trips he talked about.
The death of a son is an extraordinary loss.

My life turned upside down the day he left us and nothing seems right, even after all these years that have come and gone. It's just so "not right" to bury your child. All the "what ifs" haunt me - what would he be doing today, would he have had children?
If you have ever lost a child, you know that empty feeling I am talking about.
I can understand your pain and am so sorry. I have a son who is 64 and in poor health and it would break my heart is he should go before me.
There are two women in one of my senior classes. Both lost a son 2024 one on Christmas eve and one the week before Christmas.
The previous women is 86 and the last 92. They are hurting, no doubt about it, but still made it to class. We all grieve in different ways. I asked them how they could go on and come to class. Both answered, because life is precious and they needed to be around people. Both live alone as do I, and I do not know if it happened to my son if I subject myself to cutting myself off from the world or do as they are doing? We each have to decide what is right for us.
I am sorry for your loss.

@Sapphiregal I'm so sorry. I can't imagine the pain. We expect to lose parents, maybe a spouse, but never a child. He is watching over you. Thoughts and prayers.

@Sapphiregal my heart goes out to you. It's just been a year since I lost my son ... he took his own life. No one seems to understand the pain and sorrow in my heart. Someone told me the other day that I looked like I was in pain and I should smile more. They don't know the ache.

@Sapphiregal sometimes there are no words.
May God continue to sustain you through your grief and may your family and friends give you the comfort, support and love to continue to heal your heart.
I will pray for you.

I am so very sorry; sometimes words are inadequate despite the best of intentions.
