Anyone watching the pre-race show?

And/or

The Derby?

I've never had a Mint Julep.....have you?

I'm not watching...I'm supposed to be cleaning house, doing paperwork, paying bills today. Yet I've been taking frequent breaks to go online. I don't need another distraction!

As for the mint julep, I've never had one. I have mint chocolate chip ice cream in the freezer. I'll have that for dessert tonight.{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

I love horses. We had a thoroughbred jumper and a hunter when I was growing up. I spent all summer with my horses...loved them and still miss them!

My jumper was a claim horse my dad got at a local racetrack.

Now I know too much about how these race horses are treated to watch. They are pushed beyond their bodies limits with drugs and other tricks.

They are magnificent animals and I can't stand watching them being abused...and each and every one of those Derby horses IS abused in one way or another.

I have a Kentucky Colonel Mint plant in my kitchen window planter. It's heavenly. Nothing is better (mint-wise) than Kentucky Colonel Mint! IMO (And I've heard there are other flavors of mint that I haven't yet tried, aside from the regular mint.)

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

I go to a nursery that specializes in herbs. Some really good flavored mints are: chocolate, orange, apple, lemon, blackberry. They have interesting foliage too.

I suggest planting them in plastic pots that you sink into the ground, to prevent them from spreading too much...unless you want them as groundcover...then let them loose!

As much as I love watching them run, I just don't want to believe that they are pumped up with drugs.

terrier....my ex had an Appaloosa.....great horse. I got to ride him often, because DH was on the road a lot. Loved that horse!!

He finally had to sell him.....and a guy who works at Belmont Racetrack bought him. He was used as a "pony horse"....the horse that takes the thoroughbred to the gate.

A pony horse is the only type of horse that is well treated at a race track!
