Heard on the news that he  can be seen as a visionary for his country of Russia as .He admitted that socialism/communism does not work .

His funeral is going to be an opportunity for subtle anti-Putin protest. Should be interesting.

Porcelain, the sad thing is that the protests may be subtle, but any possible punishment or retribution the protesters will experience will be as subtle as a sledgehammer.

He was interesting. And genuinely interested in the better,ent of his country.  Not like now where governing is a total ego trip

He joins his beloved Raisa who died in 1999.  She was well-educated, a university lecturer, and frequently appeared in public along side her husband - which was unusual at the time (and would be now, actually!)  She had leukemia.

I always think of Gorbachev as the demise of the Soviet Union. Goodbye, Mr. Gorbachev.
