I very strongly recommend motion sensing disc lights placed where they will light as soon as your feet hit the floor.  Depending on your home more than one may be necessary.

Are yours the kind that plug into an outlet, or the freestanding battery operated type?  I'm thinking this might be good for DH who is a fall risk but likes to sleep in a dark room.

Re: Midnight Stubbed Toe on Bedframe

@shoesnbags,  I use both types.   In the guest bedroom where there isn't a convenient outlet I use the battery ones.  I glued a small magnet to the side of the bed frame and another magnet to the back of the light.  The light stays in place yet a guest could take it with them if they wanted to leave the bedroom in the dark.

My SIL also insists on a completely dark room but has hurt herself several times getting up during the night.  She has MS and is unsteady when she first gets up.  She now has a sensor light and hasn't injured herself since and her sleep is not interrupted by a night light.
