@ScrapHappy,

Have not been to Michael's in  awhile, but, I guess they will all be following with all self check-outs!

The last time I was to Michaels is probably going on close to a year now.

I had two cheap embroidery hoops and a few skeins of embroidery floss.  Less than $5.

There were four self check outs, all credit card only and then one human cashier.

If I were forced to use the self check out I would have left the stuff and gone across the street to Hobby Lobby.  I'm not using a credit card for such a small amount.

Not yet in our area @ScrapHappy . I hope we get self checkout soon though as I prefer checking out myself. I find it much faster unless, of course, you get behind somebody that has no clue what they are doing.

I was in our Michael's last week and there was no indication they were adding self checkouts.

Thank goodness for self check outs, our Aldi has them now. Maybe they've had them for a while but we hadn't been. So much faster if you only have few items.

I didn't go to Michael's this year but that's interesting.  I suspect it might depend on which store you go to.

When I spend $20 at Dollar tree, I feel like I made a ton of purchases, I can't imagine spending $300 in there.  But someone at Joann bought $440 worth of stuff this week.  She had a ton of picks, etc., of course I had two items, and no self checkout.  It was ok, the lady seemed happy with her finds.  I've always used a coupon in Joann.

Not in our Michael’s. Still have cashiers. Guess it depends where the stores are located.

Was in Michael's yesterday and no self check-out available, but wish that was an option:  always have to wait for a cashier to show up so you can check out. Hardly anyone goes there except during Thanksgiving and Christmas.

At first sight, the self checkouts seemed faster and less time waiting in line.

But, the more I thought about it, the more I wondered about how many people will lose their jobs.

So, I decided that I would rather suffer the inconvenience and wait in line for the cashier.

JMHO.

i don't really think anyone will lose their job, in our Michael's. I think the cashiers will stock the shelves, so people won't have to walk around half done boxes and then be able to go to the selfies, if someone needs help. They always seem to need more employees.

I'd have no problem with a self check out, for an express lane. I've had to wait behind people with carts full and i only have a couple of things.
