THE CAROLING TRADITION IS ALIVE AND WELL

Wow.  My husband just called me, and there were about 15 -20 strolling carolers outside!  They would not come in (they had a dog, etc.),  but stood in our front yard, and sang "Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer".   Age range from little tots to Boom generation like me.

One of the organizers was a young guy we know from our former church, but he had not told us anything about it.

Of COURSE,  I was in p.j.'s,  messy hair, looking hideous, etc.  but had time to throw on a presentable Stan Herman zip type robe that covers a multitude of sins, ha.

They are spreading cheer around town.   Sometimes, when you think, everything is changing, the good stuff is disappearing so rapidly, a lovely tradtion and lovely people show up, and prove you wrong.  I needed that!

Re: THE CAROLING TRADITION IS ALIVE AND WELL

So this post made me wonder, have any of you gone caroling ? I did it once when I was in college. A bunch of us just went out on a whim and people seemed to love it.

I used to go caroling with our Church youth group and really enjoyed it.  I remember groups coming to our house to carol as a child.  Haven't seen any recently

@Oznell,

That is wonderful and I can imagine how that restores someones spirits. Makes you feel as if all is (almost!) all right with the world for a few brief shining moments.

What a beautiful image I had of all that, @Oznell

Made me smile. But I also smiled at your telling us

you were in your p.js. I'm often in pjs or a nightgown

but I upgrade them and will call them "loungewear" if the

need arises. 😏

Re: THE CAROLING TRADITION IS ALIVE AND WELL

How wonderful and uplifting.  I used to go caroling when I was younger with my school and with my Girl Scout troop

We had so much fun.  I have never had any carolers at my house.

The closest I have seen is a group of nursery school kids who walk everyday through my neighborhood, holding on to a huge rope with their caregivers.

Sometimes they sing as they're walking.  They are so cute.
