Sorry to hear of his passing. As a former science teacher & space buff, I definitely know his name. My DH wanted to be an astronaut when he was a child growing up in the 50s & 60s. He has a wealth of knowledge about the early days of the space program.

He lived a long and eventful life. I remember many many years ago his daughter was an actress for a couple of years, I think, on All My Chldren. She was very good. He was a true pioneer.

I always admired and respected all the astronauts who flew into space to explore and see new visions. While I am not as much of an adventurer as I used to be, these men and women did what many of us could only dream of doing.

To Michael Collins, a space hero, may you rest in peace with God and now be among the stars and space you explored.

Can you imagine being up there circling the moon, all alone, waiting to see how the mission went?

Sad to see of his passing. He didn't get the attention the other two did for the moon landing, but was an integral part of the mission. He should always have been mentioned but often wasn't.
