I know some of you saw what I said to her and I stand by my words.
Oh well. Only on CC could the subject of MENSA bring out the small-minded mean girls.

That happens quite often on this board.
We're all supposed to pretend we don't see bigotry.

I looked up the webpage for the event and if nothing else, they have some magnificent opportunities for tours all week-including a baseball game. If I were a member this is one event I would plan on attending-and stay for several days to take advantage of the tours of the area. The main event sounds interesting-

Gotta tell you, it's the common reaction to mentioning Mensa (hence the "Fight Club" remark.)
When people ask me how I met my husband, I'd say "we were playing Tuesday night trivia against each other at a bar." Totally true. Leaving out the "at the weekly Mensa meeting...."
Intelligence is a subject of great sensitivity. No one wants to be thought of as dumb. A club you may not qualify for doesn't make people feel good about themselves. You can work out and make muscles, but I guess we feel we can't get any smarter. I dispute that, because I know people who use every particle of sense they have and run rings around supposedly more educated and "brilliant" people. There are MANY kinds of intellect.

I find this to be a very intelligent insight.

Maybe this same research can some day help those of us with autoimmune diseases, too. I sure hope so!

I hope so, too, @Toppers
I didn't know you also had an autoimmune problem. I hope you're doing OK, my friend.
@I'm o.k. @Noel7, thanks for asking. I hope that you are, too. Sending you some hugs. ((Hugs))
I have Psoriasis. I have had it for several years now. It has been getting worse, although it is still mild enough where I can still thankfully treat it topically. My doctors are aware of it.

Oh, dear, sorry. If that's true, I'm skirting very close to losing all common sense and being boring and mean. And weird. Don't forget weird. I'll go back and edit it out. Or...rather, thank you for the compliment.

LM*O!
And...gee... Unlike many other threads, no one has come back to defend themselves.
OTOH, when there is no defense...

@SusieQ_2 wrote:So from what I've read here the intellectually gifted, Mensa member-type individuals are arrogant, rude, and boring snobs? I hate to break the news, but after reading some of these posts, they sure don't have the market cornered.
I've posted here for quite a while and what was insinuated about Marp was not only wrong, but downright mean and nasty. She is owed an apology, but trust me, I won't hold my breath.
NOT true at all.
ITA with your comments in the second paragraph.

I don't get it either.
