He definitely redeemed himself after such an awful short program. Glad to see him finally skate so well.

I just read an interesting article on Evgeni Plushenko

msn.foxsports.com/olympics/story/russia-figure-skater-evgeni-plusheno-on-thin-ice-after-olympic-dropout-sochi-games-021414?related=c259bfef-0fc-44ce-8792-5dfcc82e504c

I think the young Japanese skater Yuzuru Hanyu is such a joy to watch.

I saw that earlier SeaGal ..... they are not very happy with him not skating through the pain.

Fate whispers to her, "You cannot withstand the storm." She whispers back, "I am the storm."

Sounds like they're not to happy at all Preds.

Plushenko entertained us for years but he is 31 now and with 2 spine surgerys in recent years, maybe it was time for him to retire before the games and let the young up and comer that earned the spot to be there. Bet it is not very comfortable in the clubhouse today! {#emotions_dlg.ohmy}

Kind of hard to believe after all these yrs he only has one Olympic gold medal, I didnt realize that, I thought he had a few.

It's a no win situation for Plushenko. In the warm ups, he fell on jumps. Did the Russians want to be humiliated and see him fall in the program? Of course not!

FYI.................Richard (Dic_) Button, Katrina Witt I are the only ice skaters to win 2 gold medals. As you can see from Pluschenko, it takes a toll on your body.

Actually, there was a Swede back in the 1920s who won 3 consecutive Olympic gold medals. Sonia Henie also won 3 Olympic golds back to back. Katarina Witt won 2 consecutive Olympic golds, too.

Yes. You won't see this much in the future as the requirements take a huge toll on your body.

I heard that the other Russian skater wasn't ready which is why Plushenko was scheduled to skate. Why he wasn't ready wasn't explained.
