I ""applaud"" the Russian people for encouraging and cheering for the American skater. You could tell he was very touched.

Been watching... did you all see that Russian favorite Plushenko withdrew? He tweaked his back landing a jump in warmup, and withdrew from the competition. Changes everything for the other men, since he was expected to medal.

Oh, no! I love Plyushchenko! I'm sure this is the last Olympics we will have to see him perform. I was so looking forward to watching him skate! He's the bomb!!!!!

Yes, he is. He said after the last competition that his back was bothering him a little but would rest it before today. I guess that didn't work out.

I know, he is really so brilliant. He was complaining about his back after the team competition. He tried, but obviously it is best he withdraws without injuring himself worse. This will be his last Olympics... sad way for it to end. {#emotions_dlg.crying}

Have been outside cleaning snow off my car and came in for a break. Came in just in time for the interview of Plyushchenko. I had tears in my eyes.....could feel the pain he was going through....ending his career, and not being able to compete. I was really hoping he could win the Gold.....just so sad.....

Ok, gotta go back out now. Break time is over.

I watched some of it. I just love Jason Brown so I was rooting for him. Such a nice kid and massively talented. I looked him up and it said that he is only 5'7" tall. He looks way taller to me. Anyway, he should be a huge star in skating some day.

There were some great performers.

Toward the beginning there was a lot of really dismal, plinky music that some of them used. That really took away from their performances, IMO. Fortunately, some better music came along.

You can see the scores of each program, complete with GOE and deductions. You need to click on the blue + to the right. (of each competitor)

You're right about the music, some of it is awful and detracts from the performance when it should enhance it. All the memorable performances of the past had great music.

Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan is AMAZING!

I just get mesmerized watching these skaters.

I hated to see what happened to Plushenko. I really like him and was looking forward to seeing him skate.

What remarkable courage later for the American skater to get up and finish so well after that awful fall.

Just turned the tv on and watching Jeremy Abbot (USA ) and he's skating wonderfully. It's so great to see him doing so well after his awful fall yesterday !
