Thanks @Noel7
Not certain how other physicians deal with their patients with similar diagnosis's-but it was suggested many years ago I use the 70 percent isopropyl pads and wipes for my stethoscope, (no longer required) phone, desk, car handles, steering wheel, and shopping. Same as used for our swiping and blood work.
Nothing kills all types of viral germs as we know, but in the absence and availability of an arsenal of peroxides, chlorine etc. seem to have kept me very healthy-
While it has been a healthy practice for me-I'd suggest anyone should discuss the best course for them with their physician-and be certain to use a very emollient hand cream....
Stay healthy huggers and shakers...

Hi @silentgirl
I agree with you and I do carry the hand products to kill germs and I use them. I also pass it around to my husband and daughter if we are out and have handled menus and the like before we eat.
But it's not a guarantee, it only does so much and there are germs it can't kill.
Numerous studies have shown a lot of people don't wash their hands after using the restroom, so there is that to consider also.
I have lupus and I have landed in the hospital twice in recent years as the result of catching a cold, so I try to be careful and that includes no handshakes.
Here's to Happy and Healthy Holidays for both you and I ![]()

I have never seen men hug except on tv or movies or maybe a father and son. I have never seen my husband hug any other man and that goes for my ex. I have seen a lot of hand shaking but never men hugging.

I totally agree with your thought @Noel7 and for me personally, I always understand if one does not wish to extend a hand or hug-so many reasons that should be respected.
We all seem to struggle with some sort of something that is potentially life threatening to us. Learning about it and the types of viruses we may or may not be exposed to as triggers to illness, may be one of our best preventions.
It's life changing- don't get me started on my quirks, menus, pubic doors, elevators, escalators, ATM, children picking their noses, cookie sales....airports, airline seats...
Thank you. And, to you as well and those you love; healthy and safe holiday wishes now and the whole year through.

We have those things in common, not to mention public restrooms which I avoid if at all possible.
Here's my trick: wear long sleeves out and about and use those. Even on a hot day you can usually get aways with 3/4 sleeves on a gauze blouse.

Are you talking about men on TV, or men in general in real life?
I don't really pay attention to other men, only what's in my circle of family and friends and men hug. Women family and friends hug also. No one I know hugs people they just meet, that would be odd. Unless they're family, then not as odd.

Nope...no huggers here. Just asked hubby, he said he never hugs other men, a handshake or a quick wave...I'm not a hugger either, unless I haven't seen someone in awhile. I had an appointment a few weeks ago with a woman I've never laid eyes on, and she hugged me when she met me, hugged me when I left....I don't know...I'm just not comfortable with that, suppose it has to do with your up bringing![]()

I see men shake hands and hug all the time. I hug people a lot, so I don't think it's unusual and I'm 62. I'm Italian too if that makes a difference!

I notice men usually shake hands while the other hand is on the shoulder. If relatives who haven't seen each other in a while, a hug is usual, especially if an elder.
Greek men always hug each other, and it's usual in other European cultures.
I don't think it's the U.S. culture to do so usually. Greeks, Italians, French and other foreign cultures is the norm.
