I saw a beautiful hawk when I was driving into my neighborhood this afternoon. It looked a lot like this red-shouldered hawk and was perched at the top of a tree as though he was our neighborhood watchman:

Thanks, Suzie, I didn't think of that, but this seems more likely. I used to chase the Scrub Jays away from the Mourning Dove nests, even rescued one baby and took it to the Wildlife Center with a donation to support it until it was able to be set free.

Anytime, mousiegirl. We have crows nesting in a tall Georgia pine in the woods behind us and they are constantly in & out chasing anything away. How wonderful you rescued a dove baby and donated to support it- lots of bird lovers would do the very same. Part of our deck is enclosed and I saved a juvenile cardinal.. poor thing was caught but finally let me scoop him up in my hands and he flew away. That truly made my day.

My feathered friends are playing around outside - waiting for me to put more food out I am sure. They are not at all bashful about letting you know they want something to eat. LOL. Temps keep dropping and by tomorrow it will be in the mid 50s as a high - possibly?????? a drop or two of moisture. Sure hope so. In three days we will drop about 55 degrees in temp - hard to keep the body on an even keel with changes like that in such a short time.
Glad to see everyone here - and the pictures as always are just great.
Hope all have a good day - need to get a move on and head up to Curves for a couple rounds of bending the joints. LOL.

I had some interesting visitors last night right before dusk - a pair of mallard ducks - male and female. They were eating the bird seed on the pavers and patio so I walked out, ever so slowly and feed them more. I'm telling you, there is some kind of bird network that advertises pictures of my house and yard (lol)

It appears that my address is being advertised on the bird network again. The duck pair from last night returned. This time, I left the door to the outside partially open and got two pics:

Grayson will not be ignored, so he walked in front of the camera (lol).
