This.^^^^^^^

Especially"failing to identify deterioratin vital signs".{#emotions_dlg.mad}

For those who think it's all about $$, what else would be the compensation? What she does with her award (they will probably settle out of court, imo) is her business.

It was her mom - can anybody give the woman a break already?{#emotions_dlg.bored}

What Melissa would want as compensation is impossible: her mother back with her alive and well. The Rivers family has been involved in all kinds of charity work. I would assume that any monetary gain would be donated to one of those. Melissa and her son have Joan's entire estate. Most of us understand exactly why this lawsuit HAS to proceed.

Re: Melissa Rivers Files Lawsuit Over Her Mother's Death

It makes us think twice. Have a list of questions before having procedures. Talk to the anesthesiologist, making sure that they will not take their eyes off of the monitoring devices. Many of us here feel that patients should have their own forms to be signed, reminding all concerned of their duties and responsibilities, procedures. If I were in charge, I'd have weekly staff meetings, reminding all to strictly adhere to all rules regarding procedures. After awhile, it will be rote/automatic to them.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Having a list of questions would not have saved Joan Rivers. Before any procedure, who thinks his or her doctor is going to be less than professional and competent?

Signing a paper is not going to prevent negligence.

"When Bankulla looked for Korovin, who could have done the emergency tracheotomy, she was nowhere to be found. Rivers’ doctor had left the room, the suit said."

Does that sound extremely peculiar to anyone else, or is it just me........? {#emotions_dlg.blink}

I hope Melissa does win. She lost her mother due to negligence plan and simple. I thought I read somewhere that the doctor took a selfie of himself and Joan after she was put under anesthesia. I don't know if that's true but if so; how awful. He was primarily in charge of her safety and should have safeguarded her dignity as well. Shameful to say the least.

muttmom: I do think that a 'reminder' would be helpful in many cases. Maybe even this one.

Re: Melissa Rivers Files Lawsuit Over Her Mother's Death

We all have 'reminders' in our daily lives. Warnings/tickets if and when we aren't properly driving.......not-so-good grades when we haven't studied enough for tests.....late fees when we aren't paying our bills on time........all sorts of 'reminders' to keep us on track. Sometimes we need help with keeping ourselves on track and out of trouble. It's a good thing.........

I wouldn't want an anesthesiologist or a doctor that needed a reminder to do their job. Sorry.

What does this have to do with Melissa Rivers' lawsuit?
