What a terrible thing to do. Our 10:00 news just provided us with some information about a new Scam here.
A man is calling seniors here, and not everyone has CID....and this woman didn't have it.
He was saying he was from Medicare and wanted her to know that Medicare is going to be issuing new Medicare cards. He started verifying her name, address, telephone , etc. with her. She said he had all her information correct....but then he asked for her bank account number.....Her comment back to him at that point was "you have all the other information on me, and you surely have that information too. She said he then hung up. The TV station reported this to Medicare, and Medicare has asked for anyone to try to get his phone number and then call Medicare with that information, and they will take it from there.
Boy, we really have to be on the ball with these kinds of calls.
Never ever give out any information. If I would get a call like that and I didn't have CID, I think I would be asking for that parties phone number so I could call him back.....But, fortunately, I have CID and don't pick up my phone to those numbers that I don't know.
