Those homemade masks are worthless...just keep your distance from others, wear gloves, keep your hands away from your face, use handwipes-sanitizer when out, wash your hands & clean surfaces at home...and for crying out loud, DON'T throw your disposable gloves & masks in grocery carts or on the ground.

Not worthless in terms of protecting others from your own breath, which could be carrying the virus before you have any symptoms.  We’re asked to wear the masks to protect each other, not ourselves.

I'm out everyday seeing groups gathering together talking with these masks on...they think they're being protected from getting sick so they are worse than useless since they're giving a false sense of security.

I just wore a mask while out for my walk. The bugs are out already, so a side benefit is keeping them away from most of your face.

Mask and hat, makes me feel incognito and I kind of like that.

I saw one online that was made from a sock.  The thick athletic kind ppl wear with running shoes.  It looked pretty easy - and was a no sew one.  Someone had put down in the comments they tried to blow out a match while wearing it and couldn't bc socks are pretty thick.  Google it I'm sure you can probably find it.

@Suziepeach  That's one I saw and sure looks easy enough.  I have 6 disposable masks left and I have 2 cotton ones coming from Etsy next week unless it gets shifted forward.   The sock ones though certainly are an option for those that presently have nothing - and bandanas and scarves are ez to find.

@Financialgrl oh good on being the one you saw and yes it sure looks easy..  I had ordered a few masks from Amazon when all of this began and then hubby came up from the basement with some N95's he'd just put back over all the years from power equipment he'd ordered and like I mentioned two coming from Etsy.. since we aren't going out but once every two weeks what we have should accomodate us... and Amazon has more medical masks but it takes a while to get them.
