Just how on earth can you be a Type 1 diabetic and then go on to say "I am a rule follower?" You then clearly said you had family get togethers during the holidays. Sorry but that wasn't following any of the science. You made up your own rules. Sigh...

Why can't people just consider other people's lives and maybe their co-morbidities and just do what the medical professionals and experts tell us to do in order to minimize any more death?

Those of us that care about our fellow man and are not high risk for the virus and complications are not living in fear, apprehension, etc.

It is a choice and a patriotic duty to don your mask and avoid unnecessary gatherings so that we can all get to the other side of this.

I am flummoxed as to the cavalier attitude of people that just don't seem to care about anyone but themselves. How sad to point fingers at mask wearing individuals and call them scared.  Just imagine it being a relative or friend that got sick and died from this.  Wouldn't you then wish that everyone was just simply following instructions?

Those of us that wear masks are extremely optimistic even though we are watching others participate in activities that will quite possibly cause another surge and certainly more death.

Once and for all, please wear your mask when you go anywhere indoors.  Give the less healthy than us a chance to see another day.

We are at high risk for Covid because of our age. We live in a resort area that has been mostly shut down for the winter. We have stayed in our home except for essential errands since March 2020. Only one to two errands at the most per week to lessen exposure. We wear nitrile gloves and double mask outside of the home esp. grocery shopping and getting gas. I grocery shop at early bird hours usually 6:30 to 7:00 a.m. We take off our clothes on the screened in porch and shower ASAP when entering the home after any errand and launder our clothes after a 24 hour wait. Nothing enters the home after an errand but a dash into the shower being sure not to touch anything on the way to the bathroom. All pulls and light switches and faucets and door handles are washed several times a day. We typically talk with a delivery driver or neighbor through the front window.

We both got vaccinated this past week. My husband was fine but I am having a bad reaction unlike the first shot a month ago. I only had a sore arm then. I got a fever within 24 hours and have the chills and nausea, an expected reaction for some but dreadful nevertheless. Sleep has been the best medicine.

Today a couple my husband worked with before retirement showed up on the front deck to say Hi. They are vacationing here since it is warming up. Neither had a mask on. They crowded close to my unmasked husband all standing outside the front door. I saw no one had a mask on so I handed one quickly to my husband. They stood maybe 3 feet apart reminiscing and walking around the property that abuts a nature conservancy. In essence my husband gave them a tour standing right next to them for about a half hour.
I am both frightened and angry he forgot social distancing protocol as if everything is normal again. The visitors are both a good fifteen years younger and made no effort to mask or stand back. The male visitor had Covid in Sept. and his wife works in a hospital, both perfect candidates for Covid carriers. Despite my best efforts to stay away from others I am a victim of his poor judgment and their lack of respect for us as a higher risk age bracket. He was simply too close to them for too long. He said he did not want to bother them to ask them to wear a mask. Putting us both at risk I am furious with him. I am still going through my harsh reaction to the vaccine. My husband's dear friend is a retired M.D. and even he stays masked and six feet away from others at all times. So now I worry if we will get Covid as I recuperate from the vaccine yesterday. I even had my husband wash our dogs since both visitors petted them for half the visit. Of course my husband let them out despite my efforts to keep them inside. Transmission of Covid to humans via pets is real and has been documented. So I live in fear of Covid now for us. Staying away from each other while quarantining is not easy. Do you find you are getting lax about Covid protocol? Would you mask up inside for two weeks to be safe?

@SaggingGal

All I can say is .... wow.   I'm SO sorry you're living in such a state of fear and anxiety.   What I don't understand is why you didn't speak up and ask the visitors to put on masks.  They probably had a couple in their pockets, just in case.  Or hand them a couple, since I've no doubt you are probably well-stocked up on masks.

If you are leaving your clothing outside for 24 hours, at what point are you bringing in the food you purchased?   There must be frozen or perishables that won't last outside for very long.

For all the things you are doing to stay safe, I'm a bit surprised you passively allowed this to happen on your property.  What happened?  Maybe I'm missing something here.

I also wonder at what point you will allow yourself to start acting more "normally" in the coming months.

Question .... in spite of all this, what do you do for pleasure?   Many have the TV on more to pass the time, but are you doing anything that you really enjoy doing?  Something that will help alleviate your anxiety?

I wish you the best .... and hope some time soon you'll be able to socialize with others and truly enjoy doing so.  Heart

@Trinity11 based on this and previous things she's posted, she clearly wasn't taking Covid very seriously yet was one of the first to get vaccinated as soon as she could.  And more than likely there are others who haven't seen family in a year who want a vaccine and haven't been able to get it.

If 2 weeks after the second vaccination, everyone still has to wear a mask and socially distance, exactly what was the point?  If nothing is going to change, why would people want to get the vaccine?

The judgement of some is truly sickening! Mind you business and stop telling everyone else what to do. If you are afraid stay home. Expecting everyone else to follow your rules because you're afraid is wrong on every level.

@Lipstickdiva   Exactly! If my memory serves, she doesn't work and lives in rural small town America. She might feel differently if she lived in a major metropolitan area in a condo building with many others and worked for a corporation of 1,000+.

Many of us are more susceptible to contagion simply because we have more exposure to others and should be respected for it.

Oh please! Stop judging, you don't know her. And so what if she lives in a rural area? I agree with orettichis, people need to mind their own business.

@KKJ  Everyone here needs to mind their own business. Don't judge anyone else's thread unless you agree with them. Otherwise, leave them alone!

Like it or not, when people post information about themselves on any message board, they shouldn't be surprised to receive a variety of comments ...  with various opinions.   After all, THEY provided the personal information about themselves, right?

Solution?  If that bothers you, then don't post on any message board.  Problem solved.
