I believe the confusion came about when the OP used the word, procedure, meaning method to find the channel while those reading thought she meant medical procedure.

The title of the thread is "Mary's surgery" Then she proceeds to ask if anyone knows what type of surgery Mary is having.

Let's face it.  If Mary just took off, everyone would want to know what happened, why she wasn't there, wonder if she got fired or quit, etc. 

If Mary just announced she'd be gone for a little bit, the same scenario as above would happen.

Mary says she's having surgery, people want to know exactly what kind of surgery.  No matter what, it would never be enough for some because they want to know every single detail.

I only opened this thread to find out 'Mary who?'

I figured it was the name of a fellow poster, or maybe more 'celebrity' news.

The host Mary was completely off my radar since this wasn't posted in QTalk.

Agree; if you're going to open your big mouth about it, tell the whole story.  I see nothing wrong with asking about it here on the boards if the host brought it up in the first place.

I see nothing wrong with asking, but I also think that if a host disappears for more than a day or two, the whole speculation thing starts to run amuck. People start to think they were fired, or they quit, or they are on their death bed.

A host almost has to let folks know when they are going to be absent for a period of time, at least briefly, why (heading out on a vacation....but not necessarily where, going to have surgery....but not necessarily give the details if they don't want to) or the speculation becomes ridiculous. 

They can't have it both ways, cultivate a 'relationship' between the hosts and the viewers, yet not let the viewers know when the host is missing, at least broadly why or what is up.

@Maddie64  Maddie, welcome to the Community.

I don't know what type of surgery Mary is having however I wish her well.

I'm also not sure if QVC's BeautyIQ channel is really a channel on TV.  I don't have cable and get regular QVC via antenna.

You can watch BeautyIQ live on your computer.

If you look at the upper right hand corner of your screen you should see

Shop QVC TV.  If you hover over that, a drop down menu with appear and Watch Beauty IQ TV will show a few entries down in the drop down menu.

Don't feel bad about asking about Mary's surgery - she opened the door when she mentioned it.  The longer you post in the community the more you will see that most posters comment at one time or another about the hosts personal business.  If it isn't the way they talk, it's what they wear or the makeup on their faces.
