@GenXmuse I'm sure he is mourning her death along with her children.  I think her illness was not not publcized because she and her family did not want to stir up old wounds.  Death is tragic even for those who have made terrible mistakes in their lives.

@JaneMarple Wow, I was never a fan, but did not expect that.  I'm sorry for her childrens' loss.

ETA:  I'm one of the late adopters who still uses AOL.  On their "Today on AOL" page, there is a link about her looking for a fresh start after her divorce.  I really need to get rid of AOL.

@Linmo ...I have AOL, started with it when I got my first computer so long ago I can't even remember the  year.  Anyway, I have no complaints with it and the thought of starting over with a different one stops me cold.  I know what I have, it treats me good so I'm sticking with it.  Woman Happy

Her behavior was abhorrent but her suffering and dying from colon cancer is very sad.

@Shaunac. IMO suggestions to people are preferable than issuing orders to them which frankly I resent.

Re: Mary Kay Letourneau Has Died at 58

Just because she was extremely successful at grooming and brainwashing her victim, and the fact that the victim was male, does not make any difference in the harm she caused and the justice of the punishment for it. That should not even need to be said, but here we are. It still is. I still find it disgusting that she had no remorse.

Her death has nothing to do with her crimes. She deserved her time in jail, and probably more. At the same time no one, not even the most guilty, deserves cancer. I said the same about Madoff.

When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.

Re: Mary Kay Letourneau Has Died at 58

Ms. Letourneau and Fualaau married on May 20, 2005, in Woodinville, Wash., after her release.

Fualaau and Ms. Letourneau characterized their relationship as one of love at that point, even writing a book together — “Un Seul Crime, L’Amour,” or “Only One Crime, Love.” Their story became the subject of a USA Network movie, “All American Girl.”

King County court records show Fualaau asked for a legal separation from Ms. Letourneau on May 9, 2017.
