Where any of you posting here alive back then,? I remember those days, first the John F. Kennedy killing, who we loved as President, he was a great one, then his brother Robert Kennedy, who we later believed w a s the stronger of the two, and believe would have made a great President, and MLK. They were all tragic killings.

I feel Robert would've been a great president too. So tragic, all of it.Smiley Sad

Free, Cakers, your words are so profound. I've been watching some of the documentaries about the MLK, Jr. era and some of it brings me to tears. I certainly wonder about those who yearn for the "olden days," but I'm also discouraged by the lack of progress toward seeing people as who they are instead of what they look like. Especially in a nation that, on the surface, proclaims to hold values and faiths which would direct us to love one another, care for one another.

Thanks for the inspirational words, Waja and cody.

In the words of Abraham Lincoln:

"We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battle-field, and patriot grave, to every living heart and hearth-stone, all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature."

I wanted to repeat my post, with hope and prayers that we can find in ourselves those "better angels" Lincoln appealed to.

You're welcome, newzie, feline, and Lynda. And thanks, again, to all of you for your thoughtful contributions.

As I remember, MLK's Mother and some children were killed in a church bombing after this. Shame, Shame.
