Re: Mandatory / Voluntary Testing

I have no problem being tested but I haven’t been anywhere to catch anything.

Re: Mandatory / Voluntary Testing

If it was in my area I would want to be tested so I would know even though I don't really go a lot of places.  I think you coud get before you could have time to  wash your hands.

Neither have any of the people who died.

Re: Mandatory / Voluntary Testing

Why would anyone test someone with no symptoms? It's not cost-effective by any means.

@SydneyH, I just read an article this evening about one of the Texas patients who was in quarantine without symptoms and was released only to test positive later. Scary stuff.

Many of the coronavirus test kits are faulty.  They are not working correctly.  I wonder if they are made in China.....

If Everyone was tested with faulty kits, what good would it do?

Several states are working on their own test kits, such as New York and Massachesetts.

Another thing to consider is who will be paying for this testing and treatment if needed.  I don't think it's been figured out yet.  Most people would not be able to afford it unless their insurance or Medicare covers it.

Re: Mandatory / Voluntary Testing

This just came out from NY state Governor:

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today (3/2/2020) announced a new directive by the State Department of Financial Services requiring New York health insurers to waive cost sharing associated with testing for novel coronavirus including emergency room, urgent care and office visits. The Governor also announced New Yorkers receiving Medicaid coverage will not be expected to pay a co-pay for any testing related to COVID-19. These actions will help ensure that cost does not serve as a barrier to access to COVID-19 testing for any New Yorker. Currently all COVID-19 tests being conducted at the State's Wadsworth Lab are fully covered.

Why didn't we stockpile them back in January & get them from our ally South Korea?
