Yup, people can (intentionally or not) imbed malware into a thread through a pic or gif. Also some of those emoticons that people use are imbedded with malware or spyware.

For these reasons, I kind of wish they would disallow pics, gifs, and outside emoticons here. They cannot even manage this site properly as it is. But to allow stuff from other sites is just asking for trouble, especially because this is such an attractive place for trolling.

I agree, chickenbutt. Images are a frequent source of malware, and QVC doesn't provide protection for those who use the community forums. Their usage information makes it clear we read and post here at our own risk.

And one big problem with these infected images: some people have efficient protection on their devices, so they're safe. Others don't, and they will suffer the consequences of the dangerous images.

I'm not a fan of pix and gifs. During a discussion they can be (not always, just can be) a distraction or a derailment. Also, in my case, some of them trigger migraines so I have to try and avoid the threads with images. I'm not advocating they be eliminated, however, because I understand so many people enjoy them.

I hear that! I'm torn because I know some folks really like the pics and gifs but they can be annoying, especially when somebody posts a ginormous pic that ruins the whole page. But I'm kind of in the camp that I'd rather have a grown up conversation than just a bunch of gifs & pics taking it over. Don't even get me started on the threads that turn into a back and forth argument, ruining any chance of having a conversation! That's when I just leave the conversation permanently.

For me, the screamy posts (all caps or all bolded) make my head hurt so I have to try and blow past those. Same goes for the one post = one giant sentence with a bunch of dots every few words. Makes my eyeballs bleed. ha! I suppose, as per usual for this board, the mocking will now begin.

I think they deleted the thread last time this happened, I may be wrong. Trying to find an infected pic would take forever.

I only got the message today. I looked at the pictures yesterday and all was fine. So, maybe the picture was inadvertently posted sometime from yesterday afternoon to this morning.

that's probable, maybe they should start at the end and delete from that point. I'm not even sure if they (webbie) know.

Someone saw my thread and contacted me by email. I told them where it was and they said they would check into it.

red page is still there, it says attackers from a site called fixya?
