Making my fig filling for italian cookies, need suggestions

Hi there, my mom in law (deceased) used to make the best Italian fig cookies. I have her recipe, sort of. She told me well I use some of this, a little of that , you get the picture.

Well i need to know what you use in addition to the figs, dates and nuts. I was thinking of apricots, oranges, pineapples, raisins...any suggestions will be appreciated.
