It's a day set aside to remember all our fallen heroes, to give Thanks for giving their all.
Drives me nuts when people say happy Memorial Day.
As for our home we pray for the loved ones of our fallen heroes, we don't party. We give Thanks everyday for our veterans and of course our very own active duty son 🇺🇲
Needless to say I don't care about no mail.

I can go for several weeks without looking at my mailbox.

The only important things would be a jury summons (I'm not due) or a letter from the IRS and I'm good there.

@Grand Happy It doesn't mean they are not aware or don't observe Memorial Day.  It means they hope you wil have a happy day--which doesn't exclude them being thankful or remembering.  It just means they hope you have a happy day.  You can be happy and thankful and remember those passed all at the same time.

Many ( if not most) of us can remember,  yet be happy on the same day.

The scoldings to separate the two don't register with me.

Insulting others "we don't get it", isn't helpful and is highly judgmental.

I imagine that every poster and reader here understands the meaning of Memorial Day.

Well it's obvious you've haven't experienced a family member die while serving, I HAVE not a HAPPY day. Remembering them with love and happy times passed yes but big difference.

@They CallMe MRWILKES      I did that once...and the mail carried marked my box "house abandoned--resident deceased".   Had to have the postmaster reverse that.    di

@Desertdi.  First time I heard of a letter carrier doing a resurrection but I guess anything's possible.
