It is so sad.  We had three Macy's in our area and we only have one now.  It is in a big mall so hope fully they will keep on going.  I have to say some of these stores send emails with sales that are only good online and not in the store.  That makes no sense as you would think you would want people to shop at the store.  I went to American Eagle to purchase something that was on sale online and they wouldnt honor it and said I had to order online.  I told them that  I would think any store would love to get the sale instead of online.  She just shrugged her shoulders.  I left and order online.

This is an example of why b&m stores are closing as the result of POOR decisions by Management!

I dont know if its our economy but our MAJOR malls are packed and parking lots full, they are HOPPING as well as the BIG Shopping Centers ....There are a few old tired small malls that I dont see how they are still going.....one even turned the lower level into business offices for dentists, doctors, and tax companies......and a flea mart....

@Spurt . That is so nice. I wish ours were.....I hate having to go out of town to shop all the time.......Some things are fine to purchase online, but I like to sometimes see and feel the item.......I really wish our Mall would be revamped. It used to be so nice!

According to Business Insider---no Macy's in Texas are closing.....

But I will say that some of the blame of poor sales has to go to Store Management..  Even the store in the high scale mall the clothing racks are so jammed you cant look through them, clothes are thrown all over the floor, and their dressing rooms are FILTHY....their employees are on their personal phones and dont seem to care about waiting on customers....And their stores at other malls are the same too....The only Macy's shopping I do is occassionally online.  Sorry but Id rather do my shopping at a clean friendly Dillards or JCP or Stein Mart......

When ours closed here in East Texas in 2017 the "Going Out of Business" prices never dropped below 30% off.  I saw just as many people walking out of the store empty handed as going into it.  Even the displays for hanging the clothes ect.. was for sale but they really did not offer any bargains.  I guess as long a another Macy's is open somewhere than the inventory can be used at another store.  I liked Macy's a great deal but I did prefer to go across the street to the mall and shop at Dillard's instead.

Spurt, I'm glad to hear you are seeing busy malls.  We have 4 large ones here and you could throw a brick all over 3 of them and never come near a person.  Two of these were crazy busy until the dept stores closed down.  The fourth seems to have more life because it also has a theatre, a couple good anchor dept stores, and lots of good restaurants and other places nearby.

The Macy's here in the Harrisburg, PA mall is closing soon and it's the only decent store in our area.  I am soooo sad!!

None of the Macy's in our state are closing.
The Macy's at our mall is always crowded.

So hard to figure out what the CEOs of Macy’s, etc. are thinking. They have shut down the ones in the malls, then just built a huge free-standing one 20 miles out of town next to the free-standing JCPenney and free-standing Dillard’s. DD told me that Belk was closing also. I hope not; I love Belk and they have only been in our area a few years.

Just found out the Belk is closing at one of our biggest malls. An employee told me they were not relocating anywhere else nearby. The only other Belk is about forty miles away. I am surprised to see it closing because it was always full of customers and my favorite place to shop in person.
