was yesterday 11/16 and she turned 88. She is in a nursing home with A-Fib and on oxygen (2 liters) but they get her up in a chair and she has to be assisted with feeding. We reserved an activity room for her surprise BD party (she is alert) and her 4 daughters and one of her sons were there (she had 10 children) along with at least 15-20 of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. There are at least 30-40 other grandchildren, greats and great greats who were unable to make it. (there would have not been enough room for everyone, some live in other states) I'm so blessed to have my mom see another BD, she told everyone that now she is 88 going on 89 !   Over a year ago my mom was in hospice and we thought she was leaving us but the Lord blessed her and us to be able to spend more time together. So grateful !

@Goodie2shoes She sounds like a truly amazing woman.  What a wonderful time you must have had.  Treasure the memory   I lost my Mom this past May.  It was an extremely difficult time for me because we had a caustic relationship.  She was emotionally and physically abusive to me as a child.  She had six children and for some reason she singled me out.  It's awful to go through life without the love of a mother.  I respected her to the end, more than most of my siblings.  I am left with the trial of forgiving. 

Sorry, didn't mean to bring my sorrow on your happiness, but I've always wanted that kind of relationship with my Mom.  Happy B'day to your Mommy.

You're so fortunate to have your mother with you. And it's wonderful that you have such a large family with so many to share her special day with her! I'm sure she loved her day and the special attention all of you gave her!

How blessed your family is to have your mother celebrate another birthday.  The celebration sounded so loving.

You are so lucky to be able to celebrate with your mom, enjoy the time you have together.  God saw fit to heal her and leave her here to celebrate with her family and friends.  She sounds like she has a loving legacy of friends and family.  Tell her happy belated birthday and eat a pice of cake for me.
