@Desert Lily - I didn't see your thread before now, because I was busy with work and home before Christmas. But as the wife of a veterinarian I have to chime in!

First, I believe in angels on earth, and your neighbor was one for you that day. Maybe he will continue to be one!

Second, for the whole time I've been married to DH, I've never heard of a veterinary hospital CLOSING for an extended period of time! They have "on call" for a reason, and DH has been called in many times. The only thing I can think of is the staff at that hospital must be relying on the emergency centers that are popping up everywhere.

I've also never heard of a veterinary hospital turning a pet away because they hadn't seen them! Years ago I was traveling out of state and while driving saw a rabbit sitting up near the road by a construction site, but not moving. I didn't see any visible injuries. I stopped and picked it up in a towel I had in the back seat. I looked up the nearest hospital and took it there. The veterinarian I saw was so kind. He thought the bunny had been hit and probably had neurological damage. He said he would monitor him overnight. He called me the next day and said they couldn't save the bunny. But I knew by my taking it in, it wouldn't suffer.

Anyway, I've never heard of a hospital turning down a pet because they have never been there before. I guess it happens, especially with large corporations taking over so many of them. I just told DH about this. He said, "That doesn't make sense."

I'm so glad your pup is fine, and I'm sorry you had to go through all of that anguish at first. Your neighbor - and his veterinarian - are special!  Smiley Happy

Hi @We rescue cats  She's doing great!

No more (visible) blood in urine or vomit since Friday, 24 hours after her Covenia antibiotic injection.

The vet also gave her a 10-day Rx probiotic that's been a challenge to get her to take. It comes in a capsule. Since she only weighs 6.5 lbs., I open the capsule & mix it in her canned food. She hates the taste. I've crumbled soft treats over the food, pretended I'm going to eat her food, anything to get her to eat it Lol.

TG for that antibiotic injection that lasts 14 days - no sneaking that med into her food required Lol.
