My doodle was only 9 years old. He had a tumor on his heart that burst and he died within hours. He was my best friend and like a child to me. I have an autoimmune disease and have had multiple back surgeries so I am at home almost all the time. My sweet dog never left my side, even waiting on the floor outside the shower door for me when I showered. He always looked at me with love, and listened all day while I chattered on to him! He was funny and I miss him so much. It hurts that he's gone, but I know I was blessed to have had him at all. My husband would like me to get another dog in a few months. Are there any particular dog breeds or mixes you would recommend that are small to medium sized? One that's lovable and sweet and loyal? Thank you for listening and for your advice.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog...they make life so much better, don't they?

I'm partial to the only breed I have ever owned, the wire fox terrier. They are 15-20 pounds full grown, always up for fun and games, don't shed and have real personalities. My dog's niece, Sky, won Best in Show at Westerminster two years ago. They do well in the country or in an apartment - they are very adaptable dogs.

Here's a picture of a young dog:

On the subject of considering adopting a rescue, I offer this poem:

This would make anyone cry! I can't wait to adopt my next baby from the shelter

Re: MY BEAUTIFUL LABRADOODLE DIED

Please accept my condolences for your loss. As a goldendoodle mom, I certainly can identify with your pain of losing such a wonderful dog. I also can recommend a havanese. Someone in my family has one, and it is a fabulous dog. Personality plus and so loving. They do need grooming and maintenance. When I first met "our" havanese, he was just a puppy, but I was amazed at how calm he was. He is so adorable; he just loves to be around people. Good luck with your search and your heart will tell you when the time is right.

Re: MY BEAUTIFUL LABRADOODLE DIED

I'm so sorry for your loss.  Take time to grieve for your sweet doodle.  There will come a time that you'll be ready to open your heart to a new best friend.

I rescued my 9 year old Bichon last year.  He's the sweetest dog.  Bichons are a happy, happy breed, extremely loveable, and very obedient.  Mine is comical too.  They are a small breed and mine weighs 14 pounds.  The only negative for some people (but not for me) is grooming.  They don't shed, but their coat needs to be brushed at least a couple times a week to avoid matting.  Regular haircuts are important too, but I do that myself now.

Re: MY BEAUTIFUL LABRADOODLE DIED

If you like the Doodles, I have two amazing cockapoos. They are smaller in size, around 30 pounds.

I am so sorry for your loss.
