MY BEAUTIFUL LABRADOODLE DIED

My doodle was only 9 years old. He had a tumor on his heart that burst and he died within hours. He was my best friend and like a child to me. I have an autoimmune disease and have had multiple back surgeries so I am at home almost all the time. My sweet dog never left my side, even waiting on the floor outside the shower door for me when I showered. He always looked at me with love, and listened all day while I chattered on to him! He was funny and I miss him so much. It hurts that he's gone, but I know I was blessed to have had him at all. My husband would like me to get another dog in a few months. Are there any particular dog breeds or mixes you would recommend that are small to medium sized? One that's lovable and sweet and loyal? Thank you for listening and for your advice.

Re: MY BEAUTIFUL LABRADOODLE DIED

I'm so sorry about your baby.  I've been there more times than I care to count and each time the pain in my Heart is excruciating.  When I lost my precious dog 3 years ago, my heart went with him.  Quite a long time passed before I was able to adopt my cat.  I often ask him who rescued whom.  He yawns and cuddles up close to me. Yes, we are blessed to have them but the pain of losing them is unbearable. You will know when your heart is ready to adopt another furbaby. You have my deepest sympathy.   docsgirl

I am so sorry about your baby. You said the same thing my son said-that we were so lucky to have had the best dogs in the worldSmiley Happy

When you are ready, I would suggest you go to your local animal control/humane society and take home the one that captures your heart. You will know.

I cannot go as I pretty much want them all.

Or there are rescue groups online-search local rescue groups for your county/city and they usually have picturesSmiley Happy

I bet that your sweet labrodoodle will be honored that you chose to keep on loving and taking good care of another.

Re: MY BEAUTIFUL LABRADOODLE DIED

I am so sorry for the loss of your precious pet.  A loss of such a wonderful and devoted dog is just devastating.  Particularly in your situation, I just can't imagine the shock and pain you are in.  My heart goes out to you.

Many years ago, we had a Corgi, our beloved Willie.  He was a very sweet tempered guy, a perfect companion.  Just as cute as can be.  He loved to "play soccer" with our son in the yard.  With such short little legs, he did not require as much exercise as some larger dogs.  You might want to do some research on this breed, as I am sure there are Corgi rescue groups out there.  They are smaller dogs, but with quite a sturdy body, and certainly a quiet temperament.  I wish you all the best, and I think it is wonderful that you are giving some thought to giving another dog such a loving home.

Sending thoughts and prayers-  there Is no easy way through it, but it will get easier over time.  After mine passed I waited,  then life brought to me the dearest rescue dog.  Another blessing- gratitude for our pets that are a joy in life.  Hugs. Skyegirl.

I am so very sorry. Losing a beloved fur baby is such a painful emotional experience. Those of us who have gone through it know all too well how much it hurts. Your love for your dog came shining through in your post. It may sound strange, but it's good to cry. Let it out, post here, and know that there are many here who understand.

Re: MY BEAUTIFUL LABRADOODLE DIED

Go to your local animal shelter, and they have plenty of loving dogs that need forever homes, and you'll be saving a life.

The dog will always remember that, and be forever grateful to you for it.
