MS Word question

Hi everyone,

I posted this in Electronics, but you ladies are always so quick to answer and knowledgeable, to I'd thought I'd post this question here.

I have Word 2007. I just received an email with an attachment in Word, but the document wouldn't open. I asked the person to re-send it, but he said he has Word 2010 and that's why it won't open. I didn't think that 2007 was so old that I would have this problem.

I get regular updates on my computer. Do I need some sort of update for this?
