Re: MOVING ON FROM PRETTY CLARENCE HOUSE, FOR THE KING

Oh, I'm glad for her. She was a loyal servant and really a great TRUE friend to the Queen.

Thanks !

Re: MOVING ON FROM PRETTY CLARENCE HOUSE, FOR THE KING

True, that's so difficult, @ValuSkr ,  for the long-time staff to get re-distributed, especially if some of them have to go to Buckingham Palace.  Not exactly a cozy workplace!  I expect some will take their retirement.

I've read different accounts of what Charles will do-- some stated flatly that, after the renovations, he will definitely move there.  Others were more ambiguous.  It seems he won't move till the refurbishment is done--  and who knows how long that can be stretched out, ha.   More power to him if he avoids having to do it, but for now, the expectation seems to be that they will leave Clarence House eventually, more's the pity.

I heard about the grace-and-favor cottage being secured for Elizabeth's loyal employee too--  what a neat setting she'll have for her retirement!

I actually heard yesterday that Frogmore is still their home in the UK and they stay there whenever they are visiting.

It is nice to know the Queen wanted those who were so loyal to her for so many years to be rewarded and acknowledged. That has to make them feel so appreciated.

I like the Gardens, the house not so much.

It's just too many items for my comfort level. It looks like a museum.

However, I am sure that it's different for King Charles and royal members since this is all that he has ever known.

@Oznell - These pictures are outstanding! Thank you for sharing them!

First thought -  How many people does it take to dust each room? LOL!

There are a lot of pieces of Chinoiserie in the rooms, which I love.

I agree about the picture of Noah's Ark.

There are so many family pictures. I wonder if the one is Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret on horseback. I never knew the Queen Mother liked horses as much as her daughter did.
