That is still darn low.  When i bought this house in 1987 the lowest adjustable rate was 7.90. Everyone raved how we got the best rate.  By 1993 the rates were 11 and 12%

I am old enough to remember the 17 and 18% rates in the late 1970's and early 1980's.  Homes sat on the market for 2 or 3 years.

Interest rates going up will actually help many people as they start to earn more money on CDs and other savings.

Seniors have been waiting over a decade for the interest they planned on living on from their investments.

I bought my townhouse in 1984.  My one and only home purchase.  (I'm still living in the same house.)  Interest rate at the time of purchase: 12.5%!

I almost chuckle when people are upset with some of the low single-digit rates of late.  I struggled the first year, but budgeted carefully.  Even after I refinanced a few years later, the rate was somewhere around 8%.  But I was frugal and made extra payments whenever I could.  My home has been paid off for many years now, thankfully.

The news said interest rates were going up on mortgages, credit card rates and bank account interest.
