Eeeeewwwwwwwwww. Certain batches of Chobani from a Twin Falls, ID dairy, code 16-012, expiration dates 9/11/2013 – 10/7/ 2013 are swelling and bloating and even "exploding". I noticed one of mine last night and then stumbled across the info this morning in a relatively unrelated article just generally about the popularity of Greek yogurt.
Chobani is not being transparent, rather giving a canned response that it's a mold (ewww, yuck, gross) commonly found in dairy. Yeah, I know, microbes make yogurt, but this one is obviously not supposed to be in the yogurt! The bad ones are being pulled from shelves and they don't call it a recall. I don't know what the FDA is doing, if anything, or even if they ought to be. That's the problem. Chobani is not really saying what's going on, just a general canned response to all inquiries.
