I just saw on an area news broadcast tha a Lowe's about 30 min from me was forced to close. Apparently police said that they ( Lowe's were given several warnings about social distancing, and today customers were ordered to leave and the store was closed. No other info was given , maybe the 6:00 news will tell more. I just read that they have to present a plan for compliance with the state's social distancing rules, and when that plan is approved by the board of health, they can reopen.

Good. And I llike Lowes.

I can understand it gets a bit confusing about who is responsible for what orders during the Coronavirus crisis, but an order such as the closing of this particular Lowe's would fall under the jurisdiction of that town's mayor. Some mayor's have implemented orders which differ a bit from that state's governor such as curfews, the mandatory wearing of masks, and so on.  If the store was warned they should have put in measures as other stores have done and counted customers, including having a cue line to enter.  If the store management was uncertain or overwhelmed on how to manage the capacity, they should have reached out to Lowe's corporate office.

I hope they don't close ours.  I was in ours today and they had bleach (lots of bleach) and other cleaning supplies.

Our Lowe's has been unbelievably busy since this whole mess started.  It is packed from the time they open until they close.  They are trying as they have set up entrances and exits with employees who I am assuming taking counts of the numbers of people that enter and leave but I can't believe it is working.

That being said I went to Aldi's earlier today and it wasn't very busy at all.  They have been the best stocked grocery store since this outbreak. The larger stores have been terrible.  Aldi's donates product to our food pantry every Friday and the first few weeks there had been nothing to pick up but the past few weeks we have been getting some product.

@kitty60  My husbands friends from some of his clubs bring us a bag of supplies every week since the lock down. I noticed everything comes from Aldi's.

Companies (each store within a chain) need to have a set-up, but I think it's also pretty sad that the shoppers themselves also don't seem to care about social distancing -  that it takes police force to protect us from ourselves.

I was pleased during my visit to Publix yesterday that there was a system in place, but even more pleased that the vast majority of my fellow shoppers were protecting themselves and me by obeying the signs wearing masks, and maintaining distance.

We have several stores in our NC area - Food Lion, Bi-Low, Walmart, Aldi, and a bit further away is Publix and Harris Teeter.

Going to Food Lion scares me.  No one-way isles and a ton of folks in the store yesterday, most not masked.  I'm more comfortable with Publix at this point but lots of non-food items or the same canned goods are less expensive at Food Lion.

It's a 30-32 mile round trip to Publix since we live in the country and Food Lion is about half that distance. And since there are items we can't find at Publix, we will probably continue to go to both storres.

I wore a one-time disaposable mask purchased off ebay, but found it made my nose run......so allergic to everything.
