I believe, given the recent layoffs of QVC employees and two of their co-workers, it is a mistake to flaunt "privilege" which many in their audience may not have.  It alienates people, especially when you are trying to sell a product.  To me, and I am a traveler by the way, they lack empathy which you think would be uppermost in their minds given that the insecurity of a job has hit home.

Hosts need vacations after presenting the same dozen or so products (or variations of) every day, week, month.....

It's not the taking of the vacation.  That's a benefit that they certainly are entitled to.

I think it was the excessive flaunting of the trip on television this week when 395 non-on air  coworkers were terminated.

It certainly smacked of elitist privilege and excess to me.  My feeling of course.

Maybe just keep it low key for a bit of time.

I have taken many vacations @Daffney

over 16 cruises and a yearly trip to a resort in the DR.

Does that mean I am privileged?  No, it means I saved my money to travel because I enjoyed it.

You don't have to have 'money' to vacation.

QVC seems to think we want to be 'friends' w/ the hosts, they want 'entertainment' value.  They have said so in their mission statement.

I don't see any flaunting, just the usual banter that all hosts do, all the time.

If they don’t mention their vacation, there will be a 100 posts asking where they are. As it is, there will still be a couple (like the Leah post, even though Pat kept mentioning it.)

Frankly, Pat (innocently) did something yesterday that IMO was far more offensive to the fired employee than someone commenting about their vacation.

Maybe just say "I'll be away for a week" during your final appearance and not harp on it weeks (and months) in advance,  mentioning all the new clothes you're buying for the getaway.   That might be one approach, subtle that it is.

I agree with the subtle, but don't these folks have producers, bosses?  It appears that QVC does not have a problem with folks telling the world where they are headed on vacation.

I'm always amazed when somebody on here asks where_____ is, and everybody seems to know where they are on their vacation.

I would hazzard a guess that vacations are planned weeks or months ahead of time.  No flaunting,  working people work for their benefits.

It might just be me but sometimes I dont understand mindsets on these boards.
