About 3 times in this past week, I've had yearnings for Fall.  Not the weather, but the memory things attached to that time of year.  There's something that stirs in me about the cooler time of year. Not the bad weather, but what the season makes me feel inside, I guess.  I've never felt that before, so I'm not sure what's going on.

Has anyone else felt that or something like that?  I'm just very aware of that going on in my system, but I've never felt that before.

Anyway, maybe it's just all that's going on around me. I'm not wishing time away, nor is it about the weather.  Don't know.

Re: Looking forward to Fall.

I feel that way every year around this time. Fall brings back memories of childhood with starting a new school year. The beginning of the school year was always something that I looked forward to. Even when I was in college. I love the fall colors and I remember the smell of outdoor fires and a slight change in the air.

It's funny because my grandmother disliked fall. She said that it reminded her of the year "dying." To me it was a beginning.

Re: Looking forward to Fall.

As soon as the 100 degree temps start I yearn for fall. Only 3 more months until it cools down to something under 100.

Re: Looking forward to Fall.

@qualitygal I think I know what you mean. Not wishing time away, really, but I start looking forward to fall almost as soon as winter is over! I don't think about it constantly, but every once in awhile I'll see a yellow leaf, and that yearning pops up. I love fall colors, fall/winter clothes, all of that.

Nothing to do with the school year for me...I hated school once I started junior high. Long story for another time, but I dreaded the start of the new school year.

This love of fall started after I became an adult.

Re: Looking forward to Fall.

I do not like the summer,  I do not like hot/humid weather.  And I'm delinitely in the wrong area....the Southeast.  I'm originally from the NE and Fall was always my favorite time of year.  LOVE IT!  Our Fall and Winter is not so drastic here and much shorter length of time but I look forward to it every year.

Not me.  Summer's just begun!  I love summer!  (Actually, I love all seasons except for winter precip!).

Re: Looking forward to Fall.

Fall gives me a special feeling too. Part of it is nostalgia related to things I associate with that time of year. Part of it also relates to me not being a big fan of summer and I especially don't like the dog days of summer. The period from late August through the middle of September is not among my favorite times of the year. I also much prefer cooler weather to heat and humidity, which seems to last too long for me.

Re: Looking forward to Fall.

With the TX heat and humidity keeping me mostly shut in, I'm yearning for Fall. But, it's more than just the desire for cooler weather.

I love moving closer to the fall/winter holidays. A time when celebrations bring people together, from the early pumpkin patch, all the way to NY.

Beauty seems to surround us during these celebratory times, if we take the time to be still, look and listen. A more magical time. I'm all for a booster of warm, fuzzy feelings right now.

Re: Looking forward to Fall.

Fall is my favorite time of the year but mainly for the holidays.  In Texas we do not really have a "true fall."  The temp.'s usually stop being in the 90's around Oct.  and that is so nice.  It dawned on my just last night this year I completely forgot about the longest day of the year!  It was probably 106º that day I my brain was just mush.
