Follow up: I went to Sephora and tested the original Devotion and love it. 
I purchased a travel spray. It has real staying power. 
Next I will find a tester of Goddess and see how I like that.

All the perfumes have changed, all of them. Unless they are a brand new fragrance...they have been changed. First change came to all our older, timeless fragrances, whether they be Chanel, Tova, rive gauche, Liz Claiborne, Bobbi brown Beach, Bath and Party, or any other. First they removed the whale and endangered species oils, as it should be. That made all fragrance not have staying power.  It was the oils, and those particular oils that clung to the skin, clothes and air.  Now most long standing,,popular cosmetic companies have been sold to,Coty,  L'Oreal, Revlon and such.  The trademark fragrances were all changed

about 2-3 years after they aguired them.

i don't understand, maybe someone knows...I can only guess.  Why is it, formulas have been changed.  Some perfumes don't smell like they used too. They miss a note.  Do you think they only get the original formula for so long, then they loose it.   Take Beach, by Bobbi Brown, my favorite fragrance. It was all I wore, uear round. Lingered on my clothes and sheets and pajamas after I used shower gel and lotion.  The Bobbi Brown Lotion in BEACH was her top seller, better than her perfumes when she sold her company 6 or 7 years ago.  The first to be deleted after a year or two was the lotion their top selling item.  It was so coveted you could still find it on eBay for 100@ a bottle that's have people loved it. I even bought one.   Same with Cinnamon Buns in Philosophy. They sell it once a year or something , then it's gone. I think ebayers buy it all up and charge more for it. Cinnamon Buns was their flagship product, one of her first products.  But after she sold, that went on a regular basis

I ended up purchasing a travel size of the original Devotion and the original Goddess. They both have staying power. 
Neither are sweet or flowery to me. Goddess could almost be unisex. 

Maybe more in philosophy Warm Cashmere family. I like them both very much!
