Hurricane Gloria - THREE WEEKS on my block on Long Island.

10 days during hurricane Sandy.

We were without power for 19 days after Hurricane Wilma in 2005. We live in Ft Lauderdale. No generator, so literally no power of any kind. We took cold showers, albeit quick ones. No fridge so we used a cooler filled with ice we bought to keep some food cold. No cooking so no hot meals, mostly things like sandwiches. We lived by the light of flashlights, lanterns & candles.
Looking back, it wasn't as bad as the devastion from the winter storms that we see on the news as of late.

I was taking cold showers after Sandy, and that was October. Not fun.

Wow, y'all! I think I'll not whine next time we have a power outage for more than an hour. It's very seldom here, thankfully, and I don't recall anything beyond a few hours. It's seldom anything major and the power company is always right on it doing their best.
I'm sure I'd figure it out if we ended up w/o power for an extended period but at this point I don't know how people do it! Kudos to all for how you got through it.

Probably only a few hours. We don't lose power here, but we lose water for days and sometimes we have to boil water. We get floods that are devastating.
We are campers. We could live without power for a long time in any type of weather. We are equipped to live off of the grid if necessary and we always have enough food and clean water to live for a month or more without shopping.

@Biftu We were without electricity for 13 days in 1994 during an ice storm in north Mississippi. Our scottish terrier woke us up during the night as trees were snapping all around our house. I feel sorry for the folks in Texas, been there, done that.

@violann Wilma was in October, too. What state are you in?

Many, many years ago we had a wind storm and my power was out for two weeks. Because my house was all electric at the time we had no hot water. I went to my neighbors house every other day with my soap and towels to take a shower. The same neighbors brought a bowl of oatmeal and a big containers of hot coffee over every morning. He was a lifesaver!
