Re: Longaberger coming to QVC

I wasn't interested in buying baskets the first time around, and I'm sure not interested now.

Re: Longaberger coming to QVC

I was actually in that building many years ago for a meeting of some kind (don't even remember what the meeting was about, it was that long ago).

Inside, it looks like a normal, regular office building!  But from the outside, it stops traffic!

That’s interesting.  I wonder if it’s limited left over inventory. If any new baskets are made,  I too wonder if they will be made off shore.  I have a friend who used to sell them before the company went bankrupt.  I only have two baskets as they were so expensive and I could only find a few uses for them.  Around here, it’s also the case that they turn up at garage and yard sales for a few dollars a piece.

Baskets definitely had their 'Decorating Day in the Sun',

but not so much anymore.

Will be curious to see what they sell.

Re: Longaberger coming to QVC

I have acquaintances who bought thousands of dollars worth of those baskets as investments.LOL The baskets were huge in my area and people loved and were very proud to own them. I have 5 that I kept and sold a few on Ebay for a fraction of what I paid for them. I may be interested in the right basket, I won't know until I see it. I have a few Peterboro baskets too. IMO those baskets are not as high quality as Longaberger.

Re: Longaberger coming to QVC

I have a ton of Longaberger baskets & also some Peterboro.

Agree with @blackhole99 that Longaberger is of higher quality than Peterboro.

Longaberger's claim to fame was that they were handmade in Ohio from local wood (ash I think) & the baskets were signed & dated by the basket maker.

To come to QVC they will have to be mass produced in China, I can't imagine that the quality will be any where near what it once was.

Re: Longaberger coming to QVC

I always felt like they wer kind of a status symbol, like a designer handbag would be.

They were well made but i thought kind of plain and conservative and I never could appreciate the expense.

My sister in law filled her house with them.

The original baskets were very high quality so they would have to lower their standards to meet the QVC bottom dollar budget.

Re: Longaberger coming to QVC

I have a lot of Longaberger baskets, I use them around the house.  I also have one peterboro that was purchased on QVC.  In my opinion the Longaberger were much nicer baskets.

It will be interesting to see if they sell well, I am not in the market for any more.  I have sold several that I did not like or use, the resale was not the best.

Perhaps baskets are making a come back.  I really like them, but don't have any of the brand being discussed.   Should be interesting.
