I often am forced to listen to Fox on the tvs when I am at the gym and have personally heard them ragging on AARP fairly often.

You know if you are wanting to support Fox and all they say and do - at least be honest with yourself and others and own who they really are. If you are finding you have to be dishonest with yourself about what Fox really is , maybe you need to watch something else. They are what they are and that is a conservative TV station devoted to pushing the conservative agenda to the point of brainwashing.

I know I shouldn't touch this with a ten-foot pole, but I have to say: finally, someone has had the nerve to speak the truth! Thanks, HH!

Not surprising here to see opinion called truth. {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

It is not just an opinion - it is a fact.

Do they? I've heard commercials for the conservative-option to AARP on Fox News Radio, is that what you're referring to? But each network has commercials for that network's demographic.

I promise you I do not watch Fox news or really any of the cable news channels, just local news.

I'm a conservative Republican because of my morals and beliefs.

I have long term care insurance, but am not a part of AARP. I don't even know why there is a gripe about AARP/long term care/Fox news bashing except from reading here.

edited by moi to say 'Have a great day!'

Your beliefs, yes. But your morals?

No one group has corned the morals market!

Have you heard of earphones? When I am at the gym and another channel that I do not wish to listen to is on, on go the earphone listening to MY CHOICE. Again, it is always Fox's news for all of the "ill" in this world and that is just not the truth. Other channels do not get called out for their "slant" on the news. Turn the channel.....

And I am forced to hear CNN and MSNBC when in the bank and the lunch area at our local grocery store...so do as I do.... ignore.

This is a blatant lie that FOX goes after AARP.

Tansy, my LTC is with UNUM. Their rates doubled right before I qualified for benefits and I never had to pay December's premium. In fact, they refunded the premium I paid in July, which was $489 (twice a year). All good.

They are constantly checking up on me since I have been receiving benefits. They have sent two nurses here so far, and they have called my caregivers twice, and my GP several times. I have no idea how much longer I will be on it . . . and if I get terminated for not being sick enough, I will not be able to afford the new premium on just SS income, and this will end my benefits for the rest of my life. At least I will have been compensated for the premiums I paid in for 20 years. I have already exceeded that amount.

They no longer offer LTC insurance to new applicants. The only individuals still paying are those who were insured prior to their terminating this coverage, and they are now paying $2,000 a year instead of $1,000.

She has very soft bones from osteoporosis tansy.

My mother refused to use her walker, got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, fell getting on or off the toilet and broke her hip and dislocated a shoulder. She came through the surgery okay but died three weeks later. She also had osteoporosis and a strong streak of stubbornness.

This is what happens when one falls and breaks a hip. I was at my orthopedist last week and he took xrays of my back in his office. He said my vertebrae looks pretty much the same as last year when I had the surgery. That is good for me to hear, but that report will go to the LTC company and they may terminate my coverage for all I know, because it hasn't worsened. I still have the pain, and I still need the care, but they are very vigilant about checking up on beneficiaries. As someone said in this BB some time ago, I believe they get a bonus when they can get someone off the benefits.

I am so sorry to hear about your mother. Getting up during the night and going to the bathroom alone freaks me out all the time, and I have to do it every night. I am always terrified of falling. The surgery on a broken hip is not successful a lot of the time.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Ford1224 - I have followed your posts for a while because my DFIL is trying to get his benefits from his LTC policy. He has parkinson's and also dementia and was put into a home many months ago. DMIL is getting the round around like you did with paperwork. Could you please give me the number for the national hotline that you posted before? I thought I kept it but cannot find it. I am sorry that you have being put through the scrutiny of your insurance company. Good luck!!!

That number is 818-597-3227. It is called the "LTC Association," and is located somewhere in California. Good luck to you also!!
