husband just got home from library...went to listen to a local author....knew it's always a very small audience...while he was there he noticed there wasn't a puzzle to work on.  lady at library said people are so gross...licking their fingers to pick up a puzzle piece...geez people....leave your disgusting habits at home....husband was told there was talk about closing the library.....

I used to love checking out books from the library, especially during the summer, but the last few times I did some of the pages were yucky.  Now I mainly use the computer lab for color printing, and I check out lots of e-books.  Sometimes I go for author presentations.  There are always lots of people there when I go, so I guess it makes sense for them to follow suit with other businesses/organizations that are closing.

Just talked to my millenial DS who uses his local library.

Library sent an email to patrons, classes are cancelled but labs for pc/mac/printing are still open but shorter hours.

I live in Washington state and I am worried about them closing the library.  They have closed just about everything else!   I may have to reluctantly buy a Kindle.

Do you have an iPad, @DiAnne?  If so, just download the Kindle app.

When I was a kid, I used to see many older people licking their fingers when turning pages in a book or magazine.

I only rarely see it now. Gross habit.

I read library books on my ipad. My library also has audio books, but the selection is very limited.

My kids have Amazon Fire tablets for reading library books. Much cheaper than my ipad, more versatile than a standard kindle,  and work very well for books.
