anyone remember the movie perfect storm? that was another movie that was completely made up, except for the fact that they died.

I remember that movie. I assumed the story was fiction but the storm was real?

Re: ~*Lizzie Borden Viewing Thread*~

The story of The Perfect Storm was real. I know the sister in law of one of the men killed.

Former sister in law now, they divorced.

eta: I am sure poetic license was taken with the script. But the basic facts were real

The music is terrible!

I was just going to say, the soundtrack does not fit with the time period.{#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}

I found the music distracting. Ricci did a great job of acting.

I thought the contemporary music was an interesting choice. It helped to remind us that

A sensational crime of a century past was, at heart, no different than those in this century. The music is what bridged the gap between centuries.

In particular, when Lizzy sneaks out of the house to attend a party, have a drink and meet up with friends, the music was particularly significant: telling us that Lizzy was just as rebellious as young adults in this day and age can be.

The music also played a part in the scene where Lizzy is driven to the court house, with crowds milling around hoping for a glimpse and some news. Is it so different than Casey Anthony or Jody Arias arriving at the court house?

The choice of music also sets a tone that this movie is neither a completely factual documentary of events nor a children's rhyme recreation.

Very thoughtful, Sheilaray. I am sure that was the intent now that you explain it. It was lost on me. I just found it distracting and strange.

So, Marianne, the actual characters in the movie were real people? I always thought the characters were made up. I know the storm itself was real.

Re: ~*Lizzie Borden Viewing Thread*~

I didn't like the music at all. I don't know whether they were trying to incorporate the past with the present day events....but I find that this was utterly ridiculous. If you're telling a historical fact and making it into the movie, it should stay within the proper and correct time frame.

The MUSIC makes the movie especially when it is dark and horrific.....

Remember JAWS?...BA DUM.

TWO NOTES.....that makes you recognize the movie and makes you skeered and in the moment of when it's happening.

Fate whispers to her, "You cannot withstand the storm." She whispers back, "I am the storm."
