I also recall the coronation of Queen Elizabeth. I was very small, and we didn't own a TV, but our next door neighbor invited us to watch it on her TV. I can't recall the year , but I couldn't have been more than 5 at the time.

That was 1953, Cherry. My mother's mom and aunt sent her so much memorabilia from the coronation. I still have some of it.

I saw the attempt on the life of Pope John Paul 11 live. It was another moment of horror. He was so close to dying, it is a miracle he lived, and he even thought so too

The one that popped into my mind first was the assasination of President Kennedy, followed by Martin Luther King, and landing on the moon.

I have vague memories of being allowed to stay up beyond my bed time to watch the the first moon landing. My first solid memory is watching the 1980 Olympic hockey team beat the USSR.

I remember that day clearly, too.
I was home at my parents' in Arizona, it was a warm-ish sunny day, and we were out on the patio.
My dad told me he just heard the Challenger exploded, and I didn't believe him.
I thought he had misheard.
@sunshine45; I lived in Central Florida during this time. You could see the flumes from the liftoffs and were very exciting to see from your backyard. After a while I am sorry to say we got use to the launches. We were watching when the Challenger went off because of Christa McAuliffe being on board. To see that split from the flume we knew that a tragedy had happened.
