Light hearted question about Boston

Let me preface, I am from CA and have never been to the East Coast. I hope this doesn't offend anyone....that is not my intent.

I knew a family years ago that had just moved here from Boston. All of them had a strong accent. I LOVED listening to them talk. {#emotions_dlg.wub}

In this week, I have not heard anyone from Boston on TV have an much of an accent.

So my question is......are strong accents from just a certain part of Boston or is it that many people don't have an accent?
