Library Loans with Kindle unable to download?

Is anyone else having trouble downloading books from your Library? They seemed to have changed the foremat. It shows on library that I down loaded, but amazon does not recognize the new system. AZW I think it is? Tried to download it, but Norton does not say it is safe. I would appreciate any advice, Thanks so much.
