The majority of my returns are inconsitent sizing within a brand.

I received The Letter from HSN back in the early 90's. Never bought from them again because QVC becme available in our area, and Q's merchandise was higher quality than HSN way back then.

I think many corps send those letters out to get rid of customers that are serial returners.

My Mom was the daughter of immigrants and grew up in the ghetto. She was terrified (and I do not use that word lightly) to do a return. When we would visit her, one of the beds in her home would be littered with stuff to be returned, which we would do for her.

@ScrapHappy - Your post reminded me of something that happened once at Kohl's.

Kohl's was always generous in their return policy (originally, no time limit - although they've had to tighten things up more recently for obvious reasons).

On this occasion, I was in the returns line watching the woman ahead of me who had a cartload of stuff to return.  No receipts, of course.

I kid you not, but there were things that weren't even from Kohl's.  The clerk had to keep telling her "We don't sell this item"  (or brand, etc.).

The woman kept insisting she knew she'd bought them at Kohl's and how much she'd paid for them.  (A lot!  Great memory, but didn't remember to keep the receipts?)

I'm happy to say she did not get a "refund" for anything that was not from Kohl's .  And having shopped at Kohl's for decades now, I could also have told this woman she did not buy those things there!

There are always those who want to ruin things for everyone else and abuse the policies.  Hence, Kohl's change of policies on returns and Kohl's Cash.

Ditto for LL Bean changing its return policy.

i worked for Kohl's and the above is so true. Sometimes it's shoplifters that want to return for $ other times it's just attempted dishonesty. I was there when person return carpet cleaner with the dirty water still in it. She had receipt. I also bought some Northern Nights sheets, that someone returned-Seasonal help didn't read the label-for a great price. Shoplifting is rampant.

Your statement about returns is so true @SilleeMee .

Re: Letter About Returns

If you are short, supposedly high rise pants with a shirt tucked in is the answer to elongate your legs. In my case, I hate mom jeans and mom trousers and never wear anything tucked in.

If you are short waisted besides being short (like me), mom jeans  and mom trousers makes your boobs look like they are sitting on your waist.  Even if you are small busted, that is not a good  look.

My answer. Despite being short and short waisted, a lower rise elongates my torso.

In the winter I wear a 30 in inseam with a good winter boot and no one  is the wiser but  the rest of  the year I wear anywhere from a 27in to  a 29 in and I'm good with that.

For shorts during the  summer I can wear a bermuda as long as it's not baggy.  I sometimes wear shorts with an 8 in inseam but never daisy dukes at my age  although never wore them when younger either.

I'm  5'3 -1/2  Qvc more often than not does not work for me and their tops are way too long which is why I  stopped buying a long time ago.

I received one of those letters many years ago. I pretty much stopped buying from Q at that point.

There are so many places to shop that don't charge for shipping and/or returns. And other retailers can beat Q's prices and coupons 99% of the time.

The Letter!  Oh That explains it!  (the I hate QVC all the time posts)

In my mother's later years she would order at night when she couldn't sleep. She'd swear she didn't order it.  I cancelled her Q card. It's not fair to QVC. If she wanted something she could call me and I'd order it. The infomercial things were more complicated.

Some of you may remember the very early days when you could make a return to Q or HSN and your original shipping cost was also refunded. I paid return shipping, very cheap back then, but the original shipping was refunded to me along with the merchandise cost. Long gone days.
