I am sad that Lester had to take some time off for a family illness, I am guessing that it is his mom...he seems very close with her, if you have seen his reports he has done on Jamaica with her.

Lester will be back, I cannot think of anyone else that could do the Nightly News other than him. Savannah Guthrie is TERRIBLE with her squeaky voice. I would prefer Ann Curry or even Matt Lauer than Savannah.

I SO agree with you about Ann Curry. Is she even still with NBC?

I did google it Ford. I saw a gentleman doing the Saturday and Sunday shows. His name is Peter Alexander and then saw Savannah last night. Maybe I missed another night weeknight last week.

I think Ann Curry's contractual relationship with NBC ended not too long ago. One of the last things I saw her do there was fill in on the Nightly News. Her voice is so soothing, I enjoy just listening to her. Savannah is okay, but anchoring world news is not her forte.

No, you're right, I was seeing the guy on the weekend and then the woman last night. But it does say she will be the one filling in for Lester while he is out. I won't be able to watch NBC news if that is so, her voice is really grating. Other than that I have no idea who she is.

Savannah Guthrie is on the NBC Today show on weekdays from 7 - 9 a.m. my time. I do not know if she is on the Today show which is shown on the weekends as well.

I have always liked Lester Holt.

He was in Chicago doing news for quite awhile.

He had a partner, Linda McLellan (not sure I spelled that right). Lester and Linda kind of became my favorites. Bill Curtis was on with them also.

The Nightly News used to be a position that a newsperson worked up to. Savannah has certainly not yet earned the right to that seat, IMO.

Thanks for this thread, Ford. I read the same thing this morning, after doing a search because he wasn't there last night.

I can't watch Savannah Guthrie, and she's one reason I turn off the Today show if it comes on before I'm ready to walk out the door in the morning. She might be a lovely person, but I can't watch or listen to her. She just annoys me.
