I don't make New Year's Resolutions and I don't always sacrifice something for Lent.  Some years I do, some years I don't.

Lent doesn't take a break.  I consider it cheating to take that Sunday break and that never used to be the way it was. Sunday's during Lent are no different to me and I don't take a break.

Very difficult to do that for me.   Maybe change from beloved Chardonnay to a red.  I know I will also give up PIE.

I'll just circle back to my New Year's resolutions that I never keep. Those who mentioned giving up soda pop started me thinking I should buy flavored water and stick to that.

I find it interesting that people tend to give up certain foods/beverages for Lent.  It isn't something that strikes me as what Lent is all about.

I remember the little cardboard boxes - I think they were the Rice Bowl project boxes-as kids.  We would put our change in them and then pass them in to the nuns on Good Friday.

I haven't given up a thing for Lent since I was a kid.

While I agree that good deeds are important all year, perhaps some others will be inspired to follow those examples, even if it is just during Lent.

We were taught that every celebration of the Mass is a "Little Easter", and that was why Sunday was celebrated as such during Lent. I don't think of deciding what to do as "cheating" one way or the other though.

I am hoping to celebrate a meaningful Lent this year by attending weekday Mass as often as possible.

Let people do what they do for Lent and let it be.

I may not understand what some do, but they may not undersand me, either.

I don't mind reading what people do for charity; there have been some great suggestions here through the year.  The usual food bank and animal shelters are a given; there is more out there that is needed and sometimes people don't know about other causes.

In-fighting about Lent, of all things,  really puts the whole point of self-reflection and reconciliation on the back burner.

Sad to see here.

Pope Francis suggested we all give up online trolling for Lent.
