I have always thought a lefty must be smarter for some reason.

We are both right handed. I also do things with my left hand. DH does things like he is left handed. I keep asking him why do you do stuff like someone that's left handed?

For one thing his dad taught him how to tie shoelaces sitting in front of him so he does the opposite. I saw him tie his sneakers one day. I asked him WTH?

I write with my right hand, but I do a number of things left handed.

I jumped and spun predominately off my left foot when I figure skated as a kid.

I played volleyball as a left handed setter, but I served with my right hand.

I played hockey with a left handed shot.

I putt left handed when I play golf, but all of my other shots are right handed.

Lefty but ambidextrous for some tasks.

I don’t hold my pen in a weird way with my wrist curled. I can’t even figure out how people do that.

Right handed scissors. Bat right handed, throw left handed.

Definitely very analytical and mathematical with generally high-level verbal skills.

My spatial and mechanical skills are terrible and I get easily confused.

I'm strongly right handed, with 2 right handed children.  But my mom was a lefty - couldn't do anything with her right hand.  She had 2 right handed children, my brother and I.  But her right handed brother had an only child who was left handed.

I don't know about left handedness being associated with language skills, since I'm right handed and have always been gifted with anything language-related.

Curious how many here are Left handed?  I happen to be a lefty. They claim only 10% of the population are lefties,  I think its more. People think we hold Pen's & Pencils in a strange way

Studies have shown left handed people have high levels of imagination  Since they use their right hemisphere of the brain more prominently, this makes left-handed people more analytical, creative, and verbal, and showcase better language skills. Left-handed people also have great leadership skills Smiley Happy

These generalizations are dumb. I know people that are right handed and are very creative, analytical and have very strong leadership skills, etc.

@ThinkingOutLoud I agree!  My closest friend is left handed.  She's very organized, has strong leadership characteristics and loves to be a helper.  However when it comes to being creative, let's just say she needs help when it comes to decor.  I've helped her with some choices....I happen to be right handed. (but I carry my bags always on my left shoulder)

Both of my kids are right handed too.  One's a graphic designer and the other is a landscape architect which are both creative fields.

I am 100% left handed.  I read that only 10% of left handed people are 100% left handed.  Most left handed people also do things with their right hand.  It seems to be true reading the posts here. I'm pretty helpless using my right hand.

Re: Left Hand Or Right Hand

[ Edited ]

I am a " South Paw" all the way ! ( the other term for left handed people for those who have never heard the term)

I write straight, not cupping my hand. I do iron right handed because I grew up in a right handed household and  the ironing board  was set up against a wall for ironing right handed . I can't iron left handed.  My only son is left handed and his only son (my grandson) is also left handed. My daughter and her only son ( my grandson) are right handed  Woman LOL
