I'd be willing to bet $100, that Joy wouldn't be caught dead carrying this piece of junk.  The bag I got was literally leather over cardboard.

is it the TS bag on the other channel? the web description on those JM bags always state that there is a possibility the leather in those bags may be comprised of "pig/cow/lamb" . i don't know how thet are selling over 40,000 of those things. they always get ton of horrible reviews

Yes.

I found all the zippers and compartments attractive - until I read the description. The description is not limited to pig/cow/ lamb.  The "including but not limited to" is the part I find disturbing.

These bags appear to be more cardboard than leather anyway!

When Dooney and other brands on Qvc state their leather is from Italy, I'm not quite sure what they're talking about.  Dooney has also said the same thing about their nylon bags.... all assembled in China of course.

It's just a guess, but when that's what they tell me, then that's what I think they know and what I use to make my decision.

When it's something I feel strongly about, I can back away,  there's always an alternative product.

I don't much care about the company's reasoning -  whether that's all they know, all they care to know, or all they're willing to admit the primary selling knows or is willing to swear to.  Doesn't matter - they can't tell me what they don't know and if I don't trust the company, I back off.  I've also learned to pick my battles - different things undoubtedly matter to me than might matter to someone else.

On some occasions, I've chosen not to purchase from such companies.  Period.  As consumers we do have the option to speak out through our pocket books.

Regarding the leather used (generally) for handbags are the waste products from food sources that would be thrown away and wasted if not sold.  These skins are bought in bulk from many sources (that's why they list different animals).   How they then tan the hides, dye them or cut them thinly and adhere them to some other material are individual to the purse manufacturer and can be done in many ways.  Legally, they can say something is "leather" if there is leather anywhere, however I've seen some horrible leather that shouldn't be described as such because of what was done to it.  I agree that the manufacturer of the handbag should say specifically what the leather is.......  I don't feel comfortble buying "mystery" leather either.....
