Re: Learned the hard way--don't mail gift cards!

I would tell the store's manager if I were you.

I'm very sorry that happened to you. I would most definitely say something to the manager of that groc. store!

I was so tempted to send gift cards to my nieces at Christmas, but decided to send checks instead. I worried that sending a gift card is like sending cash! At least I can stop payment on a check!

However, someone took it before he got home. Amazon was great...they told me that another customer had deposited it into their account, but hadn't used it yet. They canceled that one and reissued a new one to my son...and sent it electronically.

That's a great testament to Amazon's customer service!

That is wonderful, that they could find it and return it to you.....maybe Amazon is the way to go!......I wonder if the person who deposited it took it,....or if someone gifted it to them?

Now how did they think they would get away with that? Just dumb of the thief.

They probably were not aware it could be traced....or like I asked September, maybe someone took it and gave it to,someone else, and they did not know it was stolen?

Amazon wouldn't tell me who their customer was, that deposited the stolen gift card into his/her account. And I can understand that, because that person might not have been the thief. Another person might have sold this card to them at a discount...and then that person would have been out their money, too.

Re: Learned the hard way--don't mail gift cards!

my sister and brother send gift cards then worry till I call and say they have arrived...my son sent one this year, too....

risky for sure...fortunately they all made it to my home...while I do like the gift cards...the agony they all go through doesn't seem worth it...so much better to write a check...

I read...a long time ago....that the postal people can tell if there is cash or checks in the envelopes and of course gift cards....
